Touch Chat - Pre-Word Power Vocabulary

Touch Chat vocabulary customized for emergent communicators.

I find that many clinicians start students off with the most robust language system they have available to them, which is sometimes Touch Chat with Word Power 60 Basic. To me, Word Power is a rate enhancement tool. It's excellent when we need to optimize sentence construction. But when a person is just learning about communication and what AAC is about, they sometimes need a more salient experience. I programmed this vocabulary with the intention of this being a temporary vocabulary. I use it with emergent communicators that are just beginning to use symbolic communication. Once that is established, we switch over to the full Word Power 60 Basic. It's not the most robust vocabulary out there, but it is more robust than what the student currently has. Once the student is consistently using words consistently, we switch to the full Word Power 60 Basic. I usually find that the switch is seamless because the core vocabulary is in the same place to support motor plans that have already been developed.

Here is some more information:

As a bonus, since it does not use the English word order used in Word Power, you could hypothetically use it with other languages. This is a bit of a hack and I would only use it for a minority language if there are no other options.
